Data Deletion Policy

Account Deletion Overview

At Spkr, we respect your right to control your personal data. You can request complete deletion of your account at any time through your account settings. This page explains what happens when you delete your account.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Personal Information: Your name, email address, and profile details
  • Generated Content: All podcasts and episodes you've created
  • Source Materials: Articles and text content you've uploaded
  • Audio Files: All generated audio files and podcast feeds
  • Preferences: Your voice selections and app settings
  • Session Data: Active sessions and authentication tokens
  • Subscription: Active subscriptions will be cancelled when deletion is processed (after 30 days)

What We Retain

For legal and operational reasons, we retain certain anonymized data:

  • Billing Records: Transaction history (anonymized, retained for 7 years per legal requirements)
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated usage statistics with no personally identifiable information
  • System Logs: Technical logs retained for 30 days for security purposes
  • Legal Records: Any data required for ongoing legal matters or compliance

Deletion Timeline

Immediate: Your account deletion is scheduled for 30 days from your request
During 30-day period: You can cancel deletion by logging back into your account
After 30 days: All personal data and content is permanently deleted
Within 60 days: All backups containing your data are purged

30-Day Grace Period

Account Deletion Protection: We provide a 30-day grace period to protect against accidental deletions.

  • During the 30 days: Your account remains accessible if you log back in
  • Automatic Cancellation: Simply logging into your account cancels the deletion
  • No Action Required: You don't need to do anything special - just log in normally
  • All Authentication Methods: Works with regular login, Google Sign-In, or mobile app login

Before You Delete

Important Considerations:

  • Account deletion is scheduled for 30 days from your request
  • You can cancel deletion anytime within 30 days by logging back in
  • After 30 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
  • You will lose access to all your podcasts and episodes (unless cancelled)
  • Shared podcast links will stop working (unless deletion is cancelled)
  • Subscriptions will be cancelled when deletion is processed

Data Export

Before deleting your account, you have the option to export your data. This includes your articles, podcast metadata, and account information. The export feature is available in your account settings before initiating deletion.

Log in to your Spkr account

Navigate to Settings → Account

Click "Delete Account" in the danger zone

Follow the confirmation steps and type "DELETE" to confirm

Your deletion will be scheduled for 30 days - you can cancel anytime by logging back in

How to Cancel Account Deletion

Changed your mind? Cancelling your scheduled account deletion is simple:

Log into your Spkr account using any method (web, mobile, or Google Sign-In)

Deletion is automatically cancelled - no additional steps required

✓

Continue using your account normally

Note: This only works during the 30-day grace period. After 30 days, deletion cannot be cancelled.
