Data Deletion Policy

Last updated: March 29, 2026. This page explains what happens when you delete your account and what data we keep for legal or operational reasons.

1. Account Deletion Overview

You can request complete deletion of your account at any time through your account settings. Deletion is scheduled for 30 days from your request — you can cancel it at any time during that period simply by logging back in.

2. What Gets Deleted

When your account is permanently deleted, the following data is removed:

  • Personal Information: Your name, email address, and profile details
  • Generated Content: All podcasts and episodes you've created
  • Source Materials: Articles and text content you've uploaded
  • Audio Files: All generated audio files and podcast feeds
  • Preferences: Your voice selections and app settings
  • Session Data: Active sessions and authentication tokens
  • Subscription: Active subscriptions will be cancelled when deletion is processed

3. What We Retain

For legal and operational reasons, we retain certain anonymized data:

  • Billing Records: Transaction history, anonymized, retained for 7 years per legal requirements
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated usage statistics with no personally identifiable information
  • System Logs: Technical logs retained for 30 days for security purposes
  • Legal Records: Any data required for ongoing legal matters or compliance

4. Deletion Timeline

Your account deletion is scheduled for 30 days from your request.

During 30-day period

You can cancel deletion by logging back into your account — no extra steps needed.

After 30 days

All personal data and content is permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.

Within 60 days

All backups containing your data are purged.

5. How to Delete Your Account

Open the Spkr app on your device.

Go to Settings.

Select "Delete Account".

Confirm the request. Deletion will be scheduled for 30 days and you can cancel it by logging back in.

6. How to Cancel Account Deletion

Changed your mind? Cancelling is simple:

Log into your Spkr account via the mobile app or Chrome extension.

Deletion is automatically cancelled — no additional steps required.

Continue using your account normally.

This only works during the 30-day grace period. After 30 days, deletion cannot be cancelled.

7. Request a Copy of Your Data

Before deleting your account, you can request an export of your data. Email support@spkr-app.com and we'll provide your data export within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR and CCPA), you have the right to access, correct, delete, object to processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time.
