EPUB is designed for reflowable reading rather than fixed pages. When its text is accessible and the file is not protected by digital rights management, it can also provide a useful source for private generated narration.

How to prepare an EPUB for listening
- Confirm that you have the right to process the file.
- Add a supported EPUB containing readable text.
- Choose Full Article for fidelity or an explanatory style for a faster first pass.
- Review the generated episode and keep the original document available for visual or structural details.
Long files may be better approached in meaningful sections when the source structure allows it. A single enormous episode can be harder to navigate than several coherent listening sessions.
EPUB is not automatically an audiobook
A commercial audiobook is an authored production. It may include a human performance, direction, editing, chapter design, and licensed distribution. Generated EPUB narration is a personal accessibility and productivity workflow built from text you provide.
That distinction matters both for expectations and rights. Spkr should not be used to redistribute protected books or bypass access restrictions. Use it for files you own or are otherwise permitted to process.
Content that still needs the page
EPUB files can contain illustrations, tables, mathematical notation, footnotes, and layout-dependent material. Text extraction may not preserve the full meaning of those elements. Listen for the narrative, then return to the source when a section refers to a figure, formatted example, or reference apparatus.
For fixed-layout research reports, compare the source with the PDF workflow. For essays, books, and other flowing prose, EPUB can provide a cleaner textual path.
